| It is an initiative to encourage breastfeeding, launched in 1992 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). THE Baby-Friendly Hospitals Initiative (IHAB) aims to promote, protect and support breastfeeding through the mobilization of obstetric and pediatric services in hospitals, through the adoption of "Ten measures to be considered a Baby-Friendly Hospital”.
It is the global breastfeeding promotion, protection and support program that has contributed most to the increase in breastfeeding rates in the world. known internationally as the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI). This initiative was decided based on the results of scientific research that highlights the benefits of breastfeeding for the health of the child and mother and is aimed at the moment considered most critical for the success of good breastfeeding - the period of hospitalization at the time of birth.
This code of conduct came following the "Innocenti Declaration", on August 1, 1990, during a meeting between health policymakers from governments, bilateral agencies and international organizations. Adriana Pereira has participated and actively participates in the training of health professionals to implement this initiative in Portugal. |
