Promoting Breastfeeding
Editor’s Message
Adriana Pereira welcomes you to this website on Breastfeeding.
With the creation of this site, we aim to contribute to increasing breastfeeding literacy, supporting the general public — and especially pregnant women, mothers/fathers, and health professionals.
We share scientific studies and best practices that help and lead to successful breastfeeding.
We highlight the importance of breastfeeding for everyone. This stems from the unique properties of breast milk and the advantages of breastfeeding for the optimal health and development of the child — and for the mother’s health — while also benefiting the family, society, and the environment.
There is no such thing as “weak” breast milk. Breast milk is always good and unmatched. Breast milk is the ultimate “bestseller” in infant and child nutrition — up to age 2 or beyond.
Do you know some advantages of breastfeeding for the mother? Yes… it helps women lose weight. That’s great!!! But there are many more benefits.
Breastfed babies typically cry less and are more intelligent — find out why.
When health professionals adopt appropriate practices to support pregnant women and mothers, they help more babies and children follow WHO and UNICEF recommendations — which since 2001 have advocated for exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life, and after introducing complementary foods, to continue breastfeeding up to age 2 or beyond.
Breastfeeding should occur in a supportive environment and be as natural as possible.
During a feeding, what matters most is not the technique, nor the mother’s or baby’s position, nor the duration of the feed, nor the feeding schedule… learn more.
There are many conditions for successful breastfeeding — but the primary condition is that the mother wants to breastfeed, followed by the baby latching correctly onto the breast.
There is no single “right” position for breastfeeding!!! On this site, you’ll find information to help ensure your breastfeeding journey succeeds.
